The objective of this course is to introduce to the participants the principles of reinsurance by using real life examples. Reinsurance is the most important risk mitigation technology for insurance companies and helps to optimize the capital needs. Solvency II but also the new IFRS17 accounting regime require to adjust the reinsurance strategy of insurance companies.
The course will be in English.
Participants in this module will be allocated 5 credit points related to continuous professional training for insurance distributors according to the ASF Norm no.20 / 2018.
The course can only be completed once in the continuous professional training program.
The program is targeted to actuaries, managers of reinsurance, product development function and risk management departments.

Rainer Alt - The professional development of Rainer started 1997 as “Actuary for Life Reinsurance Business Development in Austria and Central Eastern Europe” inside of Gerling Global Re Switzerland.
Since 01.01.2016 Rainer is Chief Insurance Officer and Member of Board of NOVIS Poistovna. His direct responsibilities are: Actuarial Department, Medical Underwriting, Claim Management, Reinsurance and Reserving.
Beside his daily work Rainer had the opportunity to constantly develop his knowledge about IFRS4 as well as Solvency II and Risk Management via internal and external trainings. At SCOR he was member of the world-wide Risk Management Observer team (ECHO) and from 2008 to 2012 Chairman of the SCOR Global Life Medex Steering Committee, a project group set up to define the world wide approach for Health business, underwriting guidance for Health business and Risk based capital calculation for Health reinsurance treaties.
Since 2008 Rainer is a member of the advisory committee (“Beirat”) of the Austrian Actuarial Association (AVOE) and representative of the AVOE in the reinsurance sub-committee of the International Actuarial Association (IAA).
From 2008 to 2015 he was trainer for the “reinsurance course” at the post graduate education for actuaries of Institute of Financial Studies in Bucharest, Romania.
The program will take place Wednesday July 2nd, between 09:30 and 13:30.
